Looking for the perfect mix of smart, sexy, and sassy? Mai Tai’d Up continues New York Times bestselling author Alice Clayton’s Cocktail series, which began with Wallbanger and continued with Rusty Nailed and Screwdrivered.

The gossip mill in the seaside community of Monterey is churning about Chloe Patterson, the newcomer who is starting a sanctuary for rescued pit bulls. It’s rumored that she’s a former beauty queen (true) who ditched her fiancé the morning of their wedding (also true). And that while she’s not looking for a new man, the good-looking local veterinarian has his eye on her. Absolutely, positively true.

When Lucas Campbell isn’t at the family veterinary clinic, he’s paddle boarding in Monterey Bay. Recently single, he’s definitely not in the market for a new relationship, but he still can’t resist taking a second, third, and fourth look at the recent arrival of Miss Golden State.

Neither Lucas nor Chloe has any interest in being tied down. Being tied up, however
now there’s a thought. But are a few Mai Tais, a moonlit night, and the music of Frank Sinatra enough to allow them both to forget their past? Let’s hope Ol’ Blue Eyes knows what he’s doing.

Mix one part tiki, one part kinky, and a splash of old black magic matchmaking, and it’s time to be . . .
Mai Tai’d Up.

San Diego

24-year old San Diego native Chloe (we met her in Screwdrivered - she was our sexy librarian's cousin!) is about to get married to Charles Preston Sappington. (LOL @ the name!!!)
It's not what she really wants. It's what's expected. She grew up in the country-club world of rich people and she never really had a goal in life. It was only ever just assumed she would get married to a rich doctor or lawyer and have babies.
Other than the animal charities she donated her time to, during her pageant time, she didn't have any passions in life.

And now on the day of her wedding she just can't do it.

"I'm not marrying Charles Preston Sappington. Not today. Not any day!"

So she runs away....
to her Dad's old family ranch in Monterey.

Her Dad is basically the only person who understands her and he told her to stay for as long as she likes.
And once she's there she gets the offer to open up a pitbull rescuing station. Her old dog-charity friend Lou is planning to open one in northern California, and Chloe has just the place for it.

Lou also has the local Vet helping Chloe with whatever questions she has.
And of course Doc Campbell not only graciously donates his time and expertise, but also his son Lucas's nights and weekends.

Lucas.

...Lucas Campbell was not just great looking and funny, he was also...a nice guy. With Prince Harry hair. Kryp-to-nite. So much trouble.

Lucas and Chloe hit it off right away.
There's some instant attraction - the sparks are flying like crazy.
But both of them just got out of very serious relationships and they just want to stay friends.
Not as easy as it sounds - with this hot Vet always around!!!

WHAT WiLL HAPPEN TO CHLOE & LUCAS???
WiLL THEY HAVE A CHANCE AT A HAPPY EVER AFTER?
OR WiLL CHLOE'S LITTLE SECRET MAKE HIM HATE HER???
WiLL THERE BE A CLiFFHANGER???

NOPE . . .
I'm not telling you

Well - ok - there's no Cliffhanger! ☺

I really enjoyed MAI TAI'D UP!!!

I LOOOOOVED Wallbanger and now we meet another amazing heroine!

Chloe is so funny!! The way she talks and acts in the typical Alice Clayton style.
Hilarious.
And once she meets Lucas - just too adorable to watch her to try NOT to sexually molest him ☺

You also might cry a bit here and there - especially if you're a fan of doggies ☺

Were there some things I didn't like? Yeah..unfortunately...just like in Screwdrivered...
I was expecting more sexiness... yeah - we have this HUGE sexual tension - sexual attraction ... but the first kiss in this book doesn't happy until the 75% mark of the book. That's a bit too late for us Romance Novel Junkies!!! At least it's sooner than the 95% kiss in Screwdrivered!
And - grrrr - I don't want to offend anyone - but for me - a ginger-haired Romance Novel Hero is kind of a hard limit :/ BUT THANK YOU ALICE for managing to make Lucas sooo amazingly hot and swoonworthy - I think if this would've been any other author or if Alice hadn't written Lucas as amazingly as she did - I would've put the book down once I was told his hair-color :(

BUT of course that didn't stop me from thoroughly enjoying the book
Chloe was such an amazing person - and Lucas too - once we can finally look past the color of his hair ☺

And a book that uses not only 1 but TWO locations from my top 10 list of
PLACES-I-WANT-TO-BUILD-A-HOUSE-AND-LIVE-IF-I-EVER-WIN-THE-LOTTERY
can only be amazing ☺ #SanDiego ♥ #Monterey

Mai Tai'd Up was an amazingly cute, hilariously funny and adorably romantic story! I loved it! And you'll fall in love with Chloe & Lucas & the dogs too ☺

And can please someone make the book into a movie??
And all of Alice's other books too of course!

and now PLEASE HURRY Alice - I need to read Last Call ASAP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Alice Clayton has done it again with Mai Tai'd Up.

I have loved all the ladies of the Cocktail series, and Chloe is no exception.

We briefly met Chloe in Screwdrivered - remember the sexy librarian/historian Clark?  He's her cousin.

Walking away from everything she has ever know and thought she wanted, Chloe embarks on quite a voyage of self discovery.  She has never had to - or had the opportunity to - make decisions for herself, and now she is out in the big bad world finally finding herself.

Chloe is smart, sassy, funny - the kind of girl you want as your friend.

Dr Lucas Cambell - ie cute veterinarian - is just what the doctor ordered.  Even if he is a ginger (sorry Alice, I just don't go the ginger route!!!) it's just what Chloe wants... no needs.  But Ms Clayton has written such a sexy sexy man that I could get past the hair colour (gees, how superficial am I?!?!)

The sexual chemistry between these "friends" is off the charts

I loved reading as Chloe tries not to give into her baser urges, tries not to lick him, climb him, dry hump him.  And you can feel how much Lucas wants to do the same.  How these two kept their hands off each other is amazing!!

I adored how their friendship grew, how after all they had been through in their pasts they grew closer.  Loved their "nights and weekends" together.
The imagery in Ms Clayton's writing makes me feel like I am right there with our lovelies, can practically smell the ocean, feel the breeze.  Made me want to go to the beach - even though like Chloe I have a fear of things with fins!!

Ms Clayton has given us another fantastic instalment in this series, and could not help but fall in love her characters (even the ginger!!)

Can't wait for the Last Call!

STALK ALICE ON:

FACEBOOKHOMEPAGEGOODREADSTWITTER

Alice Clayton is a novelist with an unholy love for her KitchenAid mixer. Making her home in St Louis, she enjoys gardening but not weeding, baking but not cleaning up afterwards, and is trying desperately to get her long time boyfriend to make her an honest woman. Hi sweetie!!

After working for years in the cosmetics industry as a makeup artist, esthetician, and national educator for a major cosmetics company, Alice picked up a pen (read laptop) for the first time at 33 to begin a new career, writer. Combining her love of storytelling with a sense of silly, she was shocked and awed to be nominated for a Goodreads Author award in 2010 for her debut novels, The Redhead Series.

Alice has penned three novels, The Unidentified Redhead,The Redhead Revealed, and coming soon in November 2012, Wallbanger. She thinks you should purchase them immediately. She’s not kidding, not even a little bit. Everyone needs some comedic erotica in their lives. She is hard at work on the third book in The Redhead Series, set to release in Spring of 2013, continuing the saucy and sexual escapades of everyone’s favorite couple, Jack and Grace.

Additionally, Alice loves spending time with her besties on Not Your Mother's Podcast, make sure you check them out at notyourmotherspodcast.com or over on iTunes. 3 women rushing towards their forties still acting like teenagers. A saucy little mix of sex, love, relationships, pop cultural, celebrity gossip and All Things Jake Ryan.

Alice enjoys pickles, Bloody Mary’s, 8 hours of sleep, and a good pounding.

Finally Alice would also like all her readers and listeners to help her convince Mt. Alice that the only other thing that would make her truly happy is finally bringing home a Bernese Mountain Dog. She is totally serious. And done talking about herself in the third person…
